I love my new Sony Touch eReader, but I would like to have had the option of back light. When the lighting is slightly not right, it's very hard to read. Also I have to enlarge the print and that makes the words sometimes wrap funny. Overall - it's great! -- Sony Touch eReader
The sony reader is very friendly also to other languages such as russian.
I don't have any particular problems with this reader. Easy for use.
The only problem is that the actual colour of the reader is not as red
as in the picture, but I can live with it :-)
Thanks
Juli -- Convenient and easy
I wish I knew that I could not download free books from my library in Venice, Fl. I wish I knew some books I wanted from Barns and Nobel could not be read or downloaded to my Sony. You have to be careful where you download books from before paying for them or you will be charged as I was and not get a refund and have no book download.
I am strongly thinking of returning my Sony and getting a Kindel as you can download it seems everything to Kindel without a problelm. I am upset with Sony and wish I knew before buying depending on the name Sony as a good product. It may take a lot of time for Sony to catch up to Kindel. Would like others to comment on this product. -- Sony touch reader
The Sony eReader is a pleasure to handle, it is very solid and the brushed aluminum body and chrome trim are absolutely elegant.
The reader itself is a pleasure to use, but you should consider buying the external charger. The reader comes with a usb cable to charge from a computer, but you cannot use the reader when it is connected to the computer. You can use the reader when it is charging with the external charger.
The screen has a bit of glare and the contrast could be better; but not that big of a deal for me. The Sony is very open and can read most types of eBooks from many sources, not just the Sony bookstore. The big name eReaders require you to purchase books only from them. I use Borders and Sony to buy contemporary books (usually ten to twelve dollars) and Project Gutenberg for books that have expired copyright in the United States (most literary classics).
It supports more file types than any other reader and can also play music while reading. I keep my music on a 16GB SD card that works great and leaves me room for a few thousand books! I love the handwriting feature and now use it as a notepad, very handy and well designed. I am a software developer so I keep my reference library on the reader and take notes in meetings. Just need some time for leisure reading.
The desktop software works fine, but it is not as intuitive as the reader itself. The reader is not wireless, so all books must be added with the reader connected to a computer using the Sony software.
Highest recommendation! -- Outstanding Reader
I've been waiting for a product like this to come out for some time. I love to highlight and write my own notes as I go along through books for later review. I loved the Irex Iliad when I read about it, but it was far too expensive and even a bit big for my tastes. I bought this product when it first came out (and paid the full $300),and I've been very happy with it ever since.
It allows me to go through and highlight my favorite points throughout the book as I read.I can later go back and see a full list of everything that I highlighted for review. the touchscreen also makes it very simple to search for content with the on-screen keyboard.
I don't personally like the software that the reader comes with very well. I use a program called Calibre that makes managing my books incredibly easy. I also love how easy it is to take blogs and open-source content, to convert them into e-books, and to drop them onto your reader.
this open-source capacity coupled with the touchscreen feature where the chief selling points for me on the Sony touch. -- Great product!
