El dispositvo funciona excelente. Es el primer e-reader que uso y me ha parecido fabuloso. Acepta todo tipo de formatos de texto, una de sus principales ventajas ya que los competidores hay que crackearlos o comprar exclusivamente sus libros. Received this reader a few weeks ago. So far I am generally satisfied with my purchase.
TOUCH SCREEN:
The touch screen is very responsive. I placed an anti-glare screen protector by Lenmark and there is no compromise on the touch response. I changed the swipe direction and use my nails/ fingertips to turn pages and the loading is very fast. The ability to write notes directly is very useful as bookmarks and annotations are critical in my line of work.
SOFTWARE
On the one hand, the reader supports many eBook formats. On the other the Sony Software sucks. I use Calibre to organize and convert my ebooks with no problems. Calibre also supports RSS Feeds so I easily load my feeds before heading off to work. Also, although the reader supports ebooks of any size, the Calibre helps to ensure that during conversion the limit for loading (300 MB) is not crossed, so all my books work on my reader.
BATTERY LIFE
So far, so good. Of course, I read for hours on any given day and the battery has proven to be very durable.
READABILITY
Not too bad. Sometimes I wish the contrast was darker and the glare can be distracting sometimes. The latter is remedied by tilting the reader away from the light source. If an LED light is used, the glare is hardly a problem.
RECOMMENDATIONS
I would recommend three products to go with this Reader: an anti-glare screen protector, a cover and an LED light for reading in darker areas/times.

I got this reader when it was still expensive little toy but I have no regrets. Being sub-200 is sweet considering most of my college books are around the price of the ebook reader. Now I can just put it in my bag and read whatever, whenever, wherever I want. I've noticed the lack of wifi but having two types of SD card inputs more than makes up for it. Need to read a book? Just download one of those unprotected ones in pdf, put in SD card and off you go. However, the application for PC that came with the product needs a lot more work. It failed on Windows 7 for me and even the update didn't work. Given that I use Linux mostly and moving files to SD card is all I want, it's mostly okay. Also, putting epub format books in SD card didn't get detected automatically, while pdf and lrc (sony's reader format) get detected automatically.
If you are the type of person who has a lot of PDF files, doesn't want to buy too many books on the go, this is the book reader for you. If you are impulsive and want to buy books instantly, get a kindle. -- Awesome
This is my first ereader and I am totally hooked, it is a valuable product. The Customer Service however is not. Upon receipt of the device it would provide only 4 hours of battery charge. After a month of emails and phone calls it was replaced and the problem unit was sent back, score one for Sony backing up their product. During this month and the many phone calls the frustration level was clocking in at maximum. Sony personnel would repeatedly say that something would be done and it wouldn't without placing another couple calls.
The glare I'd prepared to see is easily circumvented by a slight tilt of the reader, and the low contrast situation was no problem in it's use and only slightly in evidence if placed along side another brand reader.
eReaders make book reading easier and very convenient. I wouldn't be without one.
