Kindle is great!
Lot of pages in this light and friendly device.
The only problem I found is that you can e-mail documents using whispernet. It costs 1 USD per mail, so it gets expensive if youre using it this way.
Any way, Kindle is a great tool! -- Great...but expensive to use by mail.
I decided I didn't like it.

Why? Well, one of the main reasons I bought the Kindle DX was because I like to follow trends in publishing and discover NEW titles. However, the book search (conveniently divvied up according to category) ONLY displays books in BESTSELLING order...a search I NEVER use here on Amazon.com!

I wanted to find books according to release date...this happens to be very important to me (although it probably wouldn't be to most people I guess).

Also, I ordered a subscription to USA Today, but the great format of the newspaper was entirely lost on the Kindle DX. The articles were mostly just lists and it just didn't feel like reading the actual newspaper.

I thought I'd be able to move out of my Luddite tendencies, especially as a reviewer who receives TONS of books for review copies; since publishers are (admirably) going green via services such as Net Galley, providing eBook versions of their titles, I thought the Kindle DX would not only free up my husband from building more bookcases, but also help reduce my carbon footprint.

Yes, the screen on the Kindle DX is amazing--it's truly like looking at a "real" book page. Yes, the design is slick and the unit is thin. Yes, it's easy to use.

But I was just so disappointed! Within a few hours of using it, I decided to return it.

If the LED screen wouldn't be an issue, I'd consider getting an iPad (which is about the same price). However, for me, I'll just continue to read and review books the old-fashioned way.

I didn't realize how the sensual experience of reading mattered so much to me until I held and used the Kindle DX...

I purchased the Kindle after returning the Nook I had received for Christmas. Top three reasons I like the kindle better than the Nook:
1. The Kindle can bookmark your place. Any time the Nook powered down I had to find my place in the book by 'thumbing' through it page by page... (the Nook didn't have a 'go to page' function, either.)
2. I like that I can hold the Kindle in portrait or landscape position and the text will shift to fill automatically.
3. Kindle can go weeks between charging, the Nook only lasted a couple of days per charge for me. -- Kindle DX vs BN Nook
The concept of e-book its per se an great invent, and this Kindle has the perfect size to read any book, useful to study with 3 or 4 books in only one thin "book", and price of this equipment returns the money with the saving of papers and printer ink.

Just only two observations: I think that was more light, and is slow with large books, but are two things that will improve with time.

Congratulations with the idea!!

Caracas,Venezuela -- It's easy to use
Received the unit in good shape and on time, as promised. Easy to setup (indeed it was already setup for me by the vendor. I was able to order books and get on with reading them within minutes after having the internal battery charged up. Great unit to own. No complaints so far. -- Kindle DX reader
