I used to upload the images and videos from my kodak camera to my computer via the usb cord atatched to the camera. However, this process failed for too big files ex: video clips. Using this card reader I got all my videos off. Great! -- finally i got my videos of my sd card
Of all the impossible to open packages, this is the worst I have encountered. Heavy scissor and a shop knife failed in several attempts, I finally had to saw the package in half. What is the point of this?!? Argh!

Once opened, works great. I didn't bother with the disk or instructions; just plug it in and use.

-- Works fine, terrible packaging
Wow. I was about to post a damning review of this product and then I tried something that all of the instructions specifically said not to: I put the card in contacts down. I have a dualbooted OS X/Vista Macbook and could not get anything to work. I thought it was a driver problem as I cannot use the included mini-CD in the slot drive on my laptop. I couldn't get the drivers downloaded from the company's website to install in OS X and after burning an image to a full size CD and installing in Vista, I still could not get anything to work at all. Same problems on a Vista desktop. Then I thought, "Well what if....", and I inserted the SD card with the gold contacts down, which the included instructions and the sticker over the slots said not to do. Not only did the card go in easily but things worked instantly in Vista and OS X. Maybe I have a 'faulty' device, but maybe sometimes it helps not to follow instructions. Oh by the way, it otherwise works great, transferring a 2GB movie in under 3 min. -- Good device, bad instructions...
