Ever since I got my MacBook I've been frustrated with the fact there's no card reader on it. I upload a lot of photos and hate having to pull out the camera cord every time I want to upload. When I lost my camera cord, I went to purchase a new one and realized this Flash Memory Card Reader was much cheaper and exactly what I wanted!
Now I can put my camera's memory card into the little reader and stick it into my computer's USB port. The drive is small enough that I can throw it in my purse and have it wherever I go.
Like many other reviewers, after a few months the little blue door broke off on mine too. But it definitely not needed and I've been using the drive for several months without. And if I do need one, it's pretty cheap to replace and so totally worth it! -- Exactly What I Needed
The apparatus works as it is suppose to and the only reason I like it is because it is cheap. I don't know why they attached the little protective latch because it broke just by looking at it, not needed at all. -- Works but flimsier than a piece of yarn
The reader was listed as working with SD cards up to 2 gigs. I have used it with a 4 gig card with good results. -- good cardreader
A bit slow, but hey - if you need a card reader on your computer you can't complain. I got this for my ex-husband as his laptop doesn't have a card reader. It operates on Windows 98, btw. He said it plugged in and took about 3 minutes to download about 100 pictures. But... but it was super easy. It's easier than digging up the camera cord all the time. -- So easy a caveman could do it.
I had bought a SDHC memory card for my new Panasonic G1 and my old card reader would not recognize it. So I went shopping for a new reader and came across this one. I was not familiar with the brand but the price was right so I took the chance and bought it despite reading some negative feedback. Yes, the plastic lid is indeed flimsy and if one is not careful it may easily break. Mine hasn't broken yet. However, the unit is compact, fast and accepts SDHC cards. Because of its small size, I can easily fit inside my camera bag so I don't need to use the camera as my download device. If you don't need one of those multiple card format readers, then this one is a good and cheap alternative and will work with the newest card technology. -- SD/MMC Card Reader
